She's 2! Mama' s cookies r good!

Miss Paisley Joy Uyen's 2nd birthday was yesterday! We didn't have a "formal" birthday party for her. We sang to her and she opened her gifts. She wasn't interested in anything else once she opened up a little elmo! Aunt Judy sent her a gift box of dick and jane books that I had to read over and over to her today. Those are fun books to read. (said with sarcasm!) My little Happy Budha is growing up! She just loves to play with her brother and sister in the basement, climbing, running, drawing, you name it! She will show it to you and say, "I made dat!" She said the same thing about the ornaments on the tree the kids have made through the years. Then she said the same thing about the angels on the tree! I told her, "NO, honey, Momma bought that." Now she says, pointing at the angels, "Momma bot dat?" She mimicks all that you say. When you get out of the shower or go to the bathroom she'll say, "Naked butt!" nice! She is learning to jump now and likes to also jump on the couch yelling, "watch Momma, watch!" She is also learning to scream from her sister. She will let her know when she is upset with what she's doing. She has grown so much and is now wearing 2t's. She uses her left hand most of the time which makes her Dad happy since's he's also a lefty as well as Raven. She also likes to take a brush and hair bands and fix Momma's hair. I love it too!
Happy 2nd birthday baby! We love you SO MUCH! I'm so glad you still like to cuddle in Mom's arms! You are so sweet and have the most precious smile. I like to tell you to say "cheese" just so I can see your sweetness beaming from cheek to cheek! Most of the time you are "Momma's girl" but you were so sweet last night when Daddy held you and you instantly fell asleep, snoring in his arms!

Christmas programs

Raven's was one week, then the middle schools, Ryker's, was the next week. They go to a private Christian school so this time of year is extra special at their school!

Ryker suprised me by getting up on stage with the "choir". I didn't even know he was doing that! There are only 3 boys in it. He has a great voice. It was funny how the middle schoolers just aren't as animated as the elementary kids. Raven was so busy between doing hand motions, singing with her mouth as wide open as can be, and talking to her friends, I had a hard time getting a picture on stage!
Off to make more Christmas cookies!

Winter fun again this year!

We had a bad day last week where the roads were awful and there were a lot of accidents. Now it was raining this evening and then turned to ice on the roads. Here's what our local weather man says:
"All the precipitation will shift to snow for Tuesday morning and come to and end later in the afternoon. 5 to 7” are possible in the north, 3-5” in the central part of the state with 1-3” southeast. Tomorrow the main concern will focus on the snow and wind. Blowing snow throughout the day and into the night will reduce visibilities causing some travel difficulties."

The kids are praying that school gets cancelled or at the very least, they have a 2-hour delay. Then they can help me get the Christmas tree up! I'm so late! I used to have a ton of trees and all kinds of decorations up by Thanksgiving! Things change with 3 kids. I'm just tired. Next year will be different. It's much more fun decorating your own house then it is a temporary rental house anyway!

Halloween

we tried so hard to get the girls together but it was not easy!
looks like they've had enough. Raven is always ready to pose though!

She loves suckers!

She was a Fairy Plum

ok trying to figure out how to back post this. Never had time to post their pictures with costumes on. Paisley had fun this year. She had a pretend cell phone Grandma Bette gave her in her Halloween bag so she would climb out of the wagon, sit her cell phone down on the steps then run up to say "ick or eat!" It was the warmest Halloween I can remember in a long time! It started to get a bit chilly but at least I didn't have to bundle the girls in heavy winter coats and hats! So nice! Ryker is growing up and now running around in the neighborhood with his friends. I gave him Grandma's cell phone so I could call him when I needed to tell him to get home.

Getting a pretty haircut before trip to CA

We went to CA 11/18/08, just Pais and I. when we flew into Chicago, our flight to LA was cancelled. So we had a 3 hr layover till the next flight. She slept for a short while. Then she had a melt down with the screaming and throwing things and all. EVERYONE was staring. One guy said he’s never heard anything like that before! Lucky for him I just looked at him. She did sleep on most of the flight. She was very very wiggly the last ½ hour. By the time we got up and waited to depart the plane I was ready to leap out the first exit! She was breaking my arm off. Aunt Judy picked us up and we got into some heavy traffic. It took over an hour to drive 20 miles and Paisley cried most of the time because she was hungry. Fun! She did really well once we got to Judy’s house and fed her. Judy had a porta crib set up at the end of my bed. Pais was able to climb out of it onto the bed to cuddle with me! It took awhile to get her to calm down and sleep in her crib. THEN every morning she was back up by 5:00 which was 7:00 our time. So I had to adjust to going to bed early with her so I wasn’t so tired.

She was so cute around everyone. They would ask how old she was and she would very softly say, “One.” We had so much fun playing outside in the 80-degree weather in November. Gotta love that. She loved it when her cousins drove her around in the little motorized jeep.

Funny story…My Paisley loves Sponge Bob. Raven used to watch it in bed with us early in the morning. Well the first night we’re at Aunt Judy’s house, she turned on the tv and Paisley instantly starts yelling, “Sponge Bob!” Judy tells her that Sponge Bob went Nighty-Night. She understood and kept repeating it back to her. “Sponge Bob nighty-night?” The next morning we were getting breakfast and Judy turns on the tv. Paisley looks at her and say, “Sponge Bob nighty-night?” She got the picture that while she was at Aunt Judy’s house Sponge Bob was not waking up!

Then came the plane ride home… She had a complete melt down on the plane from LA to Dallas. We were sitting in an isle seat with two other girls in the seat next to us. They were very nice and understanding. She just needed a nap and could not calm down. She got to that complete frustrated point where you couldn’t give her anything or do anything to pacify her. Some guy actually made some yelling noise like he was imitating her! P-lease! Like that did any good. I even tried walking and bouncing with her at the front of the plane by the bathrooms. That was fun with everyone looking at me as she’s screaming! Several people offered me things to help like a banana, a bottle of water, and a deck of playing cards. I knew if we gave her any of them she would just throw them she was so mad. And when I booked this trip she didn’t throw these fits! It’s all new and not fun! When we got to Dallas she passed out in the stroller of course! She did wake up before the next flight so she could eat some pizza which she loves. And was very good on the 2hr final flight home. But by then I was exhausted and she kept wanting me to read the same books over and over to her. We did each have our own seat since the plane wasn’t booked which was nice. She kept crawling from her seat to mine and wanting the tray up and down, up and down. When she first saw the tray, she said, “movie on!”. I had to explain there was no tv like she’s spoiled with in my car.

Pais had a hard time adjusting to the schedule again once we were back home. The first couple of nights she woke up and I put her in bed with us. That made for an uncomfortable night! After a few nights and some sporadic naps I was putting her to bed in her room. I laid her down, tucked her in, and started with our kisses, see ya in the morning, I love you so much, and then out of her mouth comes, “Get. Out. Mom!” as she’s pointing to the door! Then I walk to the door and she says, “Light. Off!” ok Pais I get the picture! You’re tired and want me to leave your room! She is a funny girl.

Paisley Girl update

11/2/08

Funny things paisley says or does

“Hey Babe!” Just like her Dad calling me!

“ya ok Mom?” I had a bite and was itching it and moaning when she said this!

She was twiddling a candy wrapper, and acting like she may have something in her mouth, so I asked her if she had something in her mouth. “GUM!” She replied! Um no the girl has never had gum but her bro and sis love it. “gum mom!” now she knows I’ll laugh at her if she rolls her tongue around in her mouth and says, “gum mom!”

“ice water Mom!” over and over again! She loves it when we put ice with her water in a sippy cup.

She’s had the stinkiest runny mustard colored poop for several days! What the heck? She feels fine, she’s not drooling like she’s teething. Hope it ends soon! Update 11/28/08 we went to the dr. before our trip to CA and everything was fine, even had a sample of poo tested just to be sure, everything came back ok. I think it’s a food thing. We switched her to soy milk. It’s been about 5 days and she’s still having nasty poo. I just read to try hemp milk, that is has the healthy fat that they need for brain development. I’ll see if I can find it around here. Update 12/08/08 they are much better with an occasional blow out!

11/03/08
Paisley came to me this morning saying, “chi-chi Mom!” “chi-chi Mom!” “MOM! NOW! One, Twooo, Tree…!” She wanted her bag of cheese nips open NOW! One, Twooo, Tree…! Wonder where she gets that counting thing from?!

Tonight she was climbing all over everything. She would get on top of the ottoman and say, “watch’en Mom?” then she would nose dive off of it and sometimes into a summersault.

When telling her it’s time for bed she sometimes says, “No! Pway Mom!” (play)

When we’re going somewhere she’ll run ahead and say, “Come’in Mom?” “Come’in?”

12/08/08 she is continually talking more and more. I suppose it helps to have a talkative Mom and sister? This weekend she got in bed with her Dad and I and was climbing on us saying, "Cereal!" When we didn't JUMP out of bed to get it for her she touched my face with both her hands on my cheeks, "I. Want. Cereal. Mom!" Girl is speaking in full sentences now!

Her 2 yr birthday is this weekend! I can't believe it! I still need to take pictures of them for their Christmas card. Behind as usual. We don't even have the tree up! But we're doing LOTS of cookie making. So fun! We're having a bad ice storm which may lead to snow tomorrow so if there's no school I'll stay home and we'll make it a little more Christmas in here.
