We're in Hanoi

Again delayed on these posts. Sorry. Everything is good here. I have tons of pictures to post. If anyone knows how to post more than 6 at a time please let me know.
Jeff and Raven still don't have return tickets. Our travel agent is saying he hopes tomorrow night works out. That's Thursday night for us so they would be home Saturday morning.
I really wanted to change my ticket so we had an over night in LA coming home but seats are really hard to come buy so he's going to just keep me posted. I've heard it can really help break things up if you can take a break and sleep before making the last 2 flights home. Plus I'd love to show off our new little girl to all my family there. Right now I only have a 2 hours layover.

Sunday Jeff and Ryker did the Cho chi tunnel tour. They both liked it a lot. They call it the American war here! They showed the tunnels they used during the war. Jeff didn't go down because they were so tiny he said now way he'd get his shoulders back out! I have pictures of them.

Raven and I did our spa thing. Everyone was looking over Raven's shoulder staring at her and watching her get her nails done. She would just laugh at them looking at her. She loved the attention. Paisley did good in her hotsling. The spa girls took her for awhile and were showing her pictures in a magazine which I thought was so funny!

Sunday night we all went out to dinner at a cafe near our hotel. We had only been on the first floor and it is all wood and coffee shop looking. But we went up to the third level which is very lounge looking with french influence. So cool looking! Great chandaliers and red velvet chairs. She had lots of fun. The kids ate a lot of chocolate cake and really good ice cream.

Monday we got a little late start because punky was up a lot the night before. We followed Molly and Jeff to a place they make marble figurines that are stampers. It has their animal for the year they were born and we had their names and animal engraved on the bottom. They are so cool. We got caught in the rain but had fun at a little mall across the street. It is so funny how they always bring you a little plastic stool and tell you to sit down when you're looking in their store. I wanted several of these tiny dolls but all in boxes so this girl said 5 minutes madame and ran out with umbrella and bike to go get more boxes. In the mean time they brought the kids fruit to eat. They are little brown round shaped that you peel and it looks like a white grape on the inside with a seed. Then red ones with spikey things. I can't spell what they are but the kids loved them. Every store has a little alter in it sitting on the floor with insence and buddhas. They say it's lucky.

Monday night Jeff actually decided to try out the Pho 24 shop next door. We were the only ones in there since we eat dinner early here and go to bed so early. (well not tonight!) so the guys were showing Jeff and Ryker how to use the chop sticks and what to put in the Pho. It is a soup with noodles. I like to spice it up with soy sauce and this orange chilli sauce. Very hard to eat with baby on you lap! But I got great video there!

Tuesday Molly and I decided we needed to power shop since thi s was our last full day in HCMC. She was feeling better after being sick and her husband was now exhausted. So she went with us to the tham beng market. (I'm not looking up correct spelling right now) It was of course very hot and little miss Raven was suffering from a stomach ache. Jeff kept taking her by the door to drink water and get some air. You drink a TON of bottled water here! So we shopped and shopped! Cheap! Cheap! Jeff nearly died when we walked past the food area. They have a ton of fish and shrimp sitting out just baking and smelling stinky in the heat. I had to try hard not to breathe through my nose. Both Ryker and Mathew got ripped off there. Mathew got a watch that does not work and Ryker bought a pokeman gameboy game that has nothing on it! We bought one the day before and had his ds with us to try it and it's fine. This time we didn't have it to try it on. Now we know better. Good thing they were cheap cheap! Since Raven wasn't feeling that well we left and took them back to the hotel so they could get in the pool. Then Molly and I went back out (and Paisley Girl) to go to a jewelry store that she knew sold some nice things and real jade, pearls and gold. I bought Paisley something for her 16th b day and a jade buddha pendent for me. Then we shopped on that street and found all kinds of things. We went in a really nice silk shop and if baby wasn't with me I would have tried some things on. I did buy her a jacket, dress and cute hand embrodered outfit for only 6.00! (for the 1 outfit) I was thrilled. I was starting to feel hot and ill from baby being in sling on me so we headed back. I got her ready for her first time in the pool. I put on her 12 mo. size yellow bikini and it barely fit. All her rolly polly's were hanging out everywhere. Love it! And she loved the pool. Kept splashing herself and her dad. Just like in the bath.
We flew to Hanoi today and are at the Horison Hotel. Not thrilled with location but it was this or pay a ton more for something where we really wanted to stay. Can't say Molly and I were thrilled with our agency asking for a lot more money just a few days before we leave. Then they tell us via email after we've been asking for an itimized bill, that we would have to pay the money in country. This email came after we had already left the US. Which they knew since they had our itinerary. We're all for paying our share but they needed some professionalism here. Molly and Jeff have planned on taking their kids the whole time and weren't notifyed they had to pay more till the week they were leaving. Very unprofessional! I guess they've done this to others as well. Just can't wait to get home with my girl to show her off! Better sleep now since she could wake up any minute!
